올도 day off가 되었다.
날씨도 좋고 오랜만에 푹 쉬는 거라 맘도 좋았다.

간만에 널널해진 김에 잠깐 account balance 체크하고는..
길 가다 서점이 보이길래 들어갔다.
지난 주에 첫 pay 받고는 책 한권 사고 싶었는데..
바빠서 잊고 지내다가 생각이 났다.

파울로 코엘료Paulo Coelho의 연금술사The Alchemist를 사려고 두리번 거렸다. 한국에서 정말 감명 깊게 몇 번이나 읽은지라 영문판도 읽어 볼만하겠다 싶어서 찾는데 이 책이 눈에 들어왔다.
'Like the Flowing River' 웬지 너무 쉽게 많이 쓰여 이제는 식상해져 버릴만한.. 아마도 '사랑'이란 말이 너무 쉽게 쓰여 별것 아닌 것처럼 느껴지듯이..
그럼에도 불구하고 '사랑'이란 말을 대체할 그 무엇을 찾지 못 하듯이 이말 또한 그런 듯 하다.

그냥 코엘료란 이름 때문에 살짝 책을 열어 봤다.

"I want to be a writer, not an engineer who writes books" 여기를 읽는 순간 책을 살수 밖에 없었다.
